本名リカルド・アウヴェス。
6歳の時に網膜剥離で全盲になり、その後ブラインドサッカーを開始。
長きにわたりブラジル代表中心メンバーである彼のパフォーマンスは
誰の目にも群を抜いて映る。
パラリンピックにおけるブラインドサッカー（５人制サッカー）は、
2004年アテネ大会から正式競技になって以降
ブラジルが３連覇中。
彼は北京大会＆ロンドン大会の優勝メンバー。
2度の世界選手権MVP選出、カナリア軍団のキャプテン、
そしてどこか憂いを帯びた“不動の10番”が、
自国開催となるリオのピッチで4連覇に挑む。

Born in Porto Alegre Brazil, Alves was only six years old when he lost his eyesight from retinal detachment. After losing his eyesight, he started to play Football 5-a-side – and has since developed his technique to be one of the best players in the sport. With the addition of Football 5-a-side as an official event in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Brazil has remained undefeated year and year with the help of Alves – he was the key player for the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Paralympic Games, grabbing the MVP title twice at the world championship. Alves has also served as the team captain – he’s hoping to help the team win their fourth straight gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
